Had a total day off today, reading swimming and sunbathing. Had to take a trip to town for email, and bread of course. Like elsewhere, the Spanish bread does not survive overnight. Of all the bread we have had we would clearly rank the French bread first. It has more flavour and a thinner crust. The Italian bread had quite a thick dry crust – not as easy to eat, and the Spanish version is somewhere in the middle. There is a bit of choice here. You can buy more or less crusty loaves.
Daylight saving had disappeared overnight, so the sun was up at around 7:30 and leaves the pool now about 4pm. Sunbathing was pretty good, though at one point Karen noticed that a man was walking along the path up behind us, slightly disturbing the solitude and her quest for that all over tan. It has been a very nice place to stay at, though the village is even less “villagy” than we expected.
There was a bit of excitement while we watched a movie this evening (our first). There’s quite a good range of movies here, but the DVD remote doesn’t work so we can’t choose English language versions, hence we watched it in bed using the laptop. Partway through Karen felt a nasty sensation under her back. She sat up violently to find a 6cm centipede happily crawling about the sheets. John to the rescue, bundling it into some clothes and tossing it outside. Not the right thing to aid sleep.
